“Mario Mamede”, also known as “Mad Mario”, is a unique figure within the Brazilian alternative scene. Drummer of the post-punk bands “Gangue Morcego” and “Herzegovina”, and also an idol of an entire indie rock generation when he was part of the band “Moptop”, “Mamede” emerges from the abyssal seas and presents us a collection of one of his most audacious projects: “Seashore Darkcave”.

“Seashore Darkcave” was created by “Mamede” in 2014, standing out as one of the biggest representatives of “Raw Wave”: a genre that mixes the rawest aspects of post-punk and darkwave of the 70s & 80s, influenced by the more experimental side of surf music.

“Seashore Darkcave” is a totally instrumental project, the absence of worn out voices and formulas from the pop universe helps to create the atmospheric and gloomy sounds of the songs. Echoing through the damp and icy walls of a cave on the edge of the sea, a deep sound reverberates, reverberating with hypnotic beats wrapped in a sombre atmosphere. A familiar atmosphere in the overwhelming darkness of timbres and musical textures that bring us to the experiments of the new wave era and transport us to meet the creatures that inhabit the deep seas.

These influences become soundtracks for the fantastic imagery of “Seashore Darkcave”: secret cult of living water worshipers, ghost ship, fear of being alone in open spaces or crowds, fishing bats from the caves, the abyssal world, random geography, dark legends of folklore, quarantine, submarine magic portals and others.

The “Raw Wave Chest” compilation brings together singles and songs from the first “Raw Wave” EP (2014), from the “Singles 2015-2018” EP (2018) and from the “Second Wave” EP (2019), and also the unreleased song “The Glitch ” with a video created by Mamede himself.
